AUDITION
PROCESS
-
Goal: Opening up the Actor's Instrument — accessing the Primary Emotional Need and releasing it with ease and lightness.
The 5 steps of Opening Up:
-
1. Relaxation — Chair Relaxation is key to releasing Mental and Physical Tensions (unexpressed emotions).
-
2. Sensorial Work — training the senses/sensitivity, letting sensorial sensation express freely in the body.
-
3. Emotional Memory — accessing powerful memories (at least 7 years back), anchored to a specific room, object, and person.
-
4. Need — every Material/Character/Scene/Moment has a powerful Need that must drive the Actor.
-
5. Dance in the Circle — following the beats of music, then the beats of the Scene, avoiding ideas and "acting."
Audition Process:
-
Star Power — presenting oneself in full power to casting directors/directors.
-
Pull Off the Story — bringing the story alive through the moments given by the scene.
-
Need — working from an open, raw Need released with ease.
-
The Audition is taped; FEEDBACK analyzes whether the Job got pulled off, if there's a callback, and what's needed — or an analysis of sabotages/act outs if not.
